This axe was created during a course that taught the entire pipeline of creating weapons for games. The concept used belongs to artist Xin Liu ( xinliuconcept.com ), who did a great job creating this insane look. As for my process, I wanted to add some extra details using several asymmetric parts in the model. However, on larger parts, such as the blade and the volcano, I used mirroring to better utilize the UV mapping area. Moving on to texturing, I wanted to convey the idea of a weapon that had been lost for many years. Even though it was of legendary quality, it began to rust, gathering dirt and battle scars and even sulfur residues that were stuck to it when its boiling power became active. The idea is that this legendary weapon had just been rediscovered and this would be its first activity in decades of disuse!
